With summer around the corner, quenching our thirst with smoothies, mocktails, soda and juices is what our body asks for. However, are we ever sure of how healthy our drinks are? Despite having fruits, honey and many ingredients that are known to be nutritious in smoothies, it's very easy to pack more than 500 calories per smoothie which makes it equivalent to the amount of that in a lunch or Dinner meal.

As much as wholesome ingredients are essential, it is important to consider portions, quantity and the variety when it comes to making healthy smoothie recipes.

Crazy for Greens (70 calories)

Ingredients: (Servings : 2)

  • 1 cup of green apple chunks
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple slices
  • 4 kale leaves
  • 1/4 c of fresh parsley
  • 1 Tbsp of lime
  • 1/2 c of sugar free coconut water
  • 1/2 of water
  • 1 cup of ice

Add all the ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth. Serve cold!

 

Watermelon Love (70 Calories)

Nothing speaks more of summer than watermelons. This super hydrating and tasty blend will keep you wanting more! It is Low in sugar, high in anti-oxidants and a great sweet tooth fix on a hot summer day, your kids will also love it making it a healthier substitute than ice-cream and candies!

Ingredients: (Servings : 2)

  • 1.5 cup of watermelon cubes
  • 1.5 cup of frozen strawberries
  • 2 Tbsp of fresh lime juice
  • 5 mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup of water

Add all the ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth. Serve cold!

Up your fiber & protein intake with this tasty and filling recipe, works as a great breakfast option to kick start the day with or even a post-workout smoothie to replenish the muscles.

Ingredients: (Servings : 2)

  • 1.5 cup of Almond milk or Soy milk (Un-sweetened)
  • 2 cup of frozen raspberriess
  • 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
